"Took delivery and fitted the sub-platter and bearing sleeve this afternoon.
Initial reactions: vinyl is quieter in the silences; more space around the instruments, and more realism; clearer upper ranges - electric guitars have more 'bite', easier to hear into the arrangements. Subjectively more dynamic range on vocals and more presence generally.
Background noise that I'd previously assumed was on the vinyl is now absent - old records sound fresh and dynamic!
All this is using my very modest and quite old Shure M75 cartridge. I'm looking forward to trying some 'better' cartridges in the future. The arm is an RB250 modified and rewired by Origin Live several years ago.
I bought the deck minus arm about 10 years ago, on ebay, then fitted the OL modded RB250. Used it like that until hearing about the sub-platter upgrade.
I think the wall shelf is by Target, with a Birch ply shelf replacing the MDF original. I removed the Rega feet from the plinth. The large aluminium cones I had had around for years - I think they might have come from Michell.
Still using the Rega glass platter for now, will likely change it for an acrylic one soon (felt matt removed so you can see your shiny sub-platter!).
Many thanks for the products, and the swift and courteous despatch!"
